U.S President Barack Obama

On the campaign trail leading to the 2008 U.S Presidential Elections, Barack Obama pledged to engage in "direct dialogue", "face-to-face" negotiations with Iran over it's nuclear ambitions, and reasserted his will to use diplomacy on numerous occasions.

At his very first press conference as the new president, Obama stated; “I think there’s the possibility, at least, of a relationship of mutual respect and progress".In his inaugural speech the newly sworn-in President promised the Muslim world that the U.S would "extend a hand if you are willing to unclench your fist."

Diplomacy through force

Obama consistently appeared to show a willingness to start over with Iran, and planted the idea in the public's mind that he was the man that could patch up a broken relationship with the Islamic republic, who the U.S had once helped to kick-start the now controversial nuclear program.

Promises of diplomacy are still spoken by Obama, the neoconservatives (and even Liberal war- mongers), even as the West and Israel prepare to slap Iran with yet another round of UN sanctions.Former US Vice President - Dick Cheney

Sanctions are not a "diplomatic effort". In fact, they are actually more akin to legalized financial terrorism.

The President, along with Secretary of State, Hillary Clinton, the neocons, and players from both sides of the American political spectrum, have always refused to take any options off the table, and that would include a nuclear strike against Iran.

So, just whose fist is clenched?

Media spinning war web again

On Monday, September 21 2009, Iran informed the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA), by letter, that a second uranium enrichment facility was presently under construction near Qom, and that there was no nuclear material yet on site.

Then, that Friday, the leaders of France, U.K., and the U.S., stood at a podium in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, where the G20 had been holding a summit, to announce that they presented intelligence information to the IAEA which showed that Iran was building a covert facility.

The corporate media whores in the mainstream press have once again jumped into war drumming mode after last week's series of oddly timed revelations, reminiscent of the Bush/ Cheney regime. The same lies concocted to fool Americans into thinking Saddam had weapons of mass destruction and was bent on nuking the states, are once again being "pushed" by these powerful propaganda prostitutes, like a "crack fix" on an innocent third grader.

In case anyone missed it, here are some facts regarding the nuclear issue with Iran;

1. Iran is a signatory of the Nuclear Non-proliferation Treaty (NPT), thereby giving them the rights to produce nuclear power for civilian energy use (this includes enriching uranium). A few countries such as Pakistan, India, and Israel, have not signed the agreement, but have nuclear weapons. As an NPT signatory, Iran's facilities have been open to inspection from the IAEA, which closely monitors all activity.

2. The International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) has had access to all Iran's nuclear facilities, and has consistently reported that they have found no evidence of any diversion of nuclear materials to a weapons program.

3. The National Intelligence Estimate (written by a group of all 16 U.S. intelligence agencies) reported in 2007, that Iran did not have a nuclear weapons program.

4. The NPT calls for countries that do not have nuclear weapons to abstain from acquiring them (which Iran repeatedly insists they have done). It also calls on countries that do have weapons, to move toward disarmament.

- Iran's Supreme leader, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei (who is much more powerful than its President) issued a "fatwa" declaring the production, stockpiling and use of nuclear weapons was forbidden under Islam. The fatwa was cited in an official statement by the Iranian government at an August 2005 meeting of the International Atomic Energy AgencyVienna. (IAEA).

- The Unites States, also a signatory of the NPT, is presently upgrading its nuclear arsenal. A violation of spirit of the Non-proleferation treaty.

- The U.S. also secretly helped Pakistan (non-NPT party) to acquire nuclear technology. A clear violation of the NPT.

5. The IAEA safeguard agreement states that a country must inform the agency when a new nuclear facility comes online, or has received materials. Iran thus fulfilled its obligations by notifying the IAEA in the September 21st letter, well before they were legally required too.

Conclusion

-Iran has the right under the NPT, to enrich uranium for civilain use.

-No evidence has been found by either U.S. and foriegn intelligence agencies, nor IAEA inspectors, that suggests Iran has a weapons program

-The Obama administration has continued the Bush/Cheney neoconservative world-domination through war agenda

-The media still has no balls
