In a shocking decision on Friday, the Norwegian Nobel Committee has awarded the 2009 Nobel Peace Prize to U.S. President Barack Obama, officially making the once prestigious award a piece of patronizing political shit.

The committee said they honored the president, who has only been in office for eight months, for his "extraordinary efforts to strengthen international diplomacy and cooperation between peoples."

It also recognized Obama's "efforts to solve complex global problems including working toward a world free of nuclear weapons." (see reason #2 and #7 below)

The decision has caught most people by complete surprise, and shocked political observers across the globe.

The U.S president, who is currently continuing to drop bombs (and I don't mean cool rap lyrics) in three different countries, had not been previously mentioned as a front-runner, and according to a report from CNN, "the roomful of reporters gasped when Thorbjorn Jagland, chairman of the Nobel committee, uttered Obama's name."

Obama is the third US president to receive the now golden paperweight,  while in office, and the second best bullshitter to receive it since Al Gore won in 2007 for his relentless efforts in global warming fear-mongering.

The award (which include $1.4 million is cash), is one of five Nobel Prizes which is (supposed to be) handed out  "to the person who shall have done the most or the best work for fraternity between nations, for the abolition or reduction of standing armies and for the holding and promotion of peace congresses", according to the will of  Alfred Nobel.

The controversial award has been criticized in the past as being politically motivated and being handed out for partisan military aims.

Some infamous past nominees for the prize have included Adolph Hitler, Bennito Mussolini, and Joseph Stalin. While notable omissions include real peace activists such as Mahatma Gandhi.

Top Ten reasons Obama shouldn't get squat

1. Obama is currently dropping bombs in THREE different countries!

2. He refuses to even SAY "o.k we won't nuke Iran" (and they might even be preparing to do that right now! --as so-called "bunker busters" are mini-nuclear bombs, and this is what they will need if they wish to destroy Iran's underground nuclear facilities) The United States is also in the process of upgrading their nuclear arsenal. ( a violation of the Nuclear Non-proliferation Treaty)

3. He INCREASED troops in Afghanistan (and is about to increase them again)

4. He INCREASED the amount of  "private contractors" in Iraq (Blackwater Xe mercenaries)

5. He INCREASED the amount of periodic bombings by UAV's, and raids in Pakistan territory

6. He kept his mouth shut while Israel was committing war crimes in Gaza in during "Operation Cast Lead"

7. He promised Israel that their secret nuclear arsenal would be kept a secret

8. He broke his promise to withdraw completely from Iraq

9. He indirectly threatened another NPT state (Iran) with war

10. He's left-handed (and everybody knows you can't trust a lefty!)

President Obama, while charismatic and well spoken, has done only that...talked about peace. His actions however, should speak for themselves.

Surprisingly, in a short statement made to the press from the White House Rose Garden, the commander-in-chief admitted that he thinks he doesn't deserve the award.

I agree.
