On Saturday at an APEC summit in Singapore, Harper pushed for Global Climate rules. The Prime Minister of Canada reported that essentially half of all global greenhouse gas emissions arise from developing countries with rising economies. Again, the Global Warming scare is being pushed on us and the rest of the world. Harper stated that, "If we don't control those, whatever we do in the developed world will have no impact on climate change". Oddly enough, Tim Flannery of the Copenhagen Climate Council claimed that Canada, who has been apart of the council for 11 years, fails to meet their obligations. So essentially, our government have been hypocrites this entire time. Claiming that we are so environmentally friendly, when really the faceless and nameless folks who run this here country have been lying through their teeth. And on top of that, Harper wants to drop rules and restrictions on upcoming countries... restricting their only source of economic growth and leaving them stunted. Another way to maintain the power among the powerful, and leave the weak with little hope. Mr. Barack Hussein Obama made a speech just previous to the summit meeting, saying, "We look to rising powers with the view that in the 21st century, the national security and economic growth of one country need not come at the expense of another. In an inter-connected world, power does not need to be a zero-sum game, and nations need not fear the success of another. Cultivating spheres of co-operation — not competing spheres of influence — will lead to progress in the Asia Pacific." Now, doesn't that sound all optimistic and welcoming. This was just my thoughts on this news article I read on CBC News, http://www.cbc.ca/world/story/2009/11/14/apec-summit.html.
